Scan Books and Historic Documents

We have a special scanner designed specifically for genealogy and local history research! This station is designed for patrons who wish to make digital copies of books or documents. It is not connected to a printer.

This scanner is special because it protects the spines of books while creating a more accurate digital copy than a flatbed scanner might. If you need help using it, please ask a staff member!

This special scan station is available at Cedar Lake, Dyer-Schererville, Griffith-Calumet Township, Hobart, Lake Station-New Chicago, Merrillville, Munster, and St. John branches.

Most are located on height-adjustable tables for your convenience.
