PFLAG Crown Point Northwest Indiana is a chapter of PFLAG National, and provides support, education, advocacy, and community for family, friends, allies and members of the LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning) community in Northwest Indiana. Our primary mission is to ensure that the family members of people who identify as LGBTQ+ get the support they need in the way that best serves them. This allows families and other allies to better understand where their loved ones are and what they may be experiencing, and to begin being able to provide greater support, affirmation, and advocacy on behalf of their LGBTQ loved ones.
Our secondary (but just as crucial) mission is to support, affirm, and empower LGBTQ+ community members themselves, and to help create a culture around them that is more accepting, allowing them a safer space to live as their authentic selves.
To fulfill these missions, we provide support through meetings, connections, and resource referrals; provide education about the unique issues and challenges facing LGBTQ folks and those who support them; encourage advocacy in our communities to change attitudes and create policies and laws that achieve full equality for people who are LGBTQ+, and host or attend a variety of fun social gatherings.
Our monthly support group meetings are free, and do not require pre-registration to attend. The primary content of these meetings is support, but also includes components of education, resource sharing, and socializing.
Whether you are struggling to accept or are accepting, we are here for you! Benefits of these in-person meetings vary for everyone, but can be life-changing. Through these gatherings, you can build your network, listen to and share stories, learn from others, offer advice, discuss common issues, and gain the support and community you need as you navigate your way on this journey. You are not alone!

The Munster Branch is a convenient, vibrant community center and educational hot spot for residents in the Lake County Public Library District and surrounding areas. Our goal is to be an inviting place where the community looks forward to visiting and using the library's services with their friends and family. This year, over 147,000 people walked through our doors and received wonderful service from the Munster Library staff.
Our library contains library materials for adults, teens and children along with ample seating, a meeting room, program room, WiFi access, public computers and small group rooms. We also provide a variety of programs for people of all ages in-house and at Munster schools. We take pride in our community by featuring and co-hosting programs with local non-profit organizations.
