In a series of seven presentations, participants will explore how nutrition, exercise and other factors play important roles in the health of your entire body.

October 3: Nourish your Brain
After this session, participants will have increased their awareness/ knowledge of oxidative damage to the brain. Participants will know specific foods to promote brain health. We will discuss strategies to help exercise the brain and the body.
October 17: Nourish Your Bones and Joints
After this session, participants will be able to identify specific nutrients that are important for bone and joint health. Participants will also identify ways that eating and fitness choices can impact bone and joint health.
October 24: Nourish Your Muscles
After this session, participants will know the function of muscles in the body and how nutrients and physical activity play a role in muscular health. Participants will also be able to identify good food sources of protein and carbohydrates that benefit our muscles.
November 21: Nourish Your Digestive System
After this session, participants will know what organs make up the digestive tract and the general process of digestion. Participants will know the role fiber and water play in digestive health. Participants will also know the function of bacteria in the body. We will also discuss the natural sources and supplementation options of probiotics and prebiotics and be able to identify specific ways to keep their digestive system healthy.
December 5: Nourish Your Skin
After this session, participants will have increased their awareness/knowledge of factors that damage the skin or decrease the skin’s natural barriers. Participants will increase their awareness/knowledge of how to maintain skin barriers through nutrition, hygiene and protective measures. Participants will also be able to identify skin cancer risk factors and how they can perform skin self-checks to detect suspicious skin spots.
December 12: Nourish Your Heart
After this session, participants will be able to identify at least three risk factors for heart disease and state three ways to make their diet more heart healthy. We will discuss how to read a nutrition facts label and the benefits of increasing physical activity to reduce risks of heart disease.
December 19: Nourish Your Immune System
After this session, participants will have Increased their understanding of the immune system, be able to identify basic aspects of the immune system, understand lifestyle factors that affect the immune system, and understand how nutrition can play a role in immune health.
