Come to the library and let the story lead you on an adventure.
For children in preschool and up, this program celebrates storytelling in a dynamic and interactive experience. Children and their parents will follow each page of the story on a walk around the library. Following clues in the story and illustrations, children will be able to guess and participate in the storytelling before being lead to the craft at the end of the walk. The storybook walk will be for one hour but participants may take as short or as long a time as they need on the excursion, and may do it more than once if they would like.
National Library Week is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and library workers and to promote library use and support. From free access to books and online resources for families to library business centers that help support entrepreneurship and retraining, libraries offer opportunity to all. First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is sponsored by the American Library Association and observed in libraries across the country each April. All types of libraries - school, public, academic and special - participate.

The Cedar Lake Branch of Lake County Public Library is known for its spacious, beautiful building, which opened to the public in May of 2006. At 20,000 square feet, this new building is the third largest branch in the library system and is located just to the east of the high school from the Hanover School Corporation on West 133rd Ave. We have three private small group rooms and a public meeting room that can accommodate up to 100 people. Every month we hold many preschool, toddler, infant, family and adult classes and events. From computer classes, to arts and crafts, to game night, we've got something for everyone, no matter your age!
