Visitors to Northwest Indiana may use Library computers as guests. All others must have or apply for a Lake County Public Library card.
All cardholders in good standing may use Web PCs after signing the Internet Use Agreement. Parents must sign the agreement for children under 18.
The privilege of using Library computers may be revoked if you violate the Library's Computer Use Policy or fail to comply with the guidelines below.
The Library cooperates fully with law enforcement if you engage in illegal activity while using the Library's computers or network.
Do not display sexually explicit graphics or detailed graphics of violence.
Do not run programs from any type of disk.
Do not alter Library hardware or attach peripherals except for floppy disks, USB drives, media cards, or headphones.
The Library is not responsible for any loss or damage to user equipment or data.
Web/Multipurpose PCs -
60 minutes when others are waiting
15 minute extensions when no one is waiting up to a maximum 360 minutes (6 hours) per day
Information Stations (catalog/databases/Indiana government sites) -
60 minute sessions; additional sessions when no one is waiting
Children’s PCs at Central Library -
60 minutes (1 hour) when others are waiting; maximum 120 minutes (2 hours) per day
Black and white - 5˘ per page

Parents, please monitor your minor children's use of chat.
Staff can provide you with assistance signing on to Library PCs. If you are not familiar with using computers or the Web, please register for the training classes offered at all branches before using library PCs.
