While the area that is currently home to the town of Munster has been inhabited for centuries, the town as we know it today did not get its start until the late 1800s. It was officially incorporated as a town in 1907.

Munster takes its name from a Dutch settler named Jacob Munster. He opened a General Store and post office and soon the community was booming.

Learn more about the town of Munster by visiting the Munster Historical Society! There is even a Munster Junior Historical Society for students in grades 5-8 interested in history.
